Description
Our afternoon hike will be at Point Lobos State Reserve, which is 7 miles south of Monterey along the rocky Big Sur coastline. It costs $10 per car to enter the park. We will meet in the hotel lobby at 1:30pm and set up carpools for those interested. There is a rest room at the southern parking lot. It is very possible that the parking lots in the state park will be full so we will need to park just outside the entrance. We will have two group hikes which we will plan to start just outside of the park. There is very little elevation gain on both hikes and most of the trails are along the rocky coast with the possibility to see seals, sea otters and birds. We recommend you wear sturdy walking shoes or sandals. Flip flops may have trouble on the rocks. Tide Pools – low tide on Monday is at 4:30 pm. You can view marine life in tide pools is at Weston Beach along the south trail. From the park entrance it is a ½ mile walk to Weston Beach.

Longer hike: The Point Lobos Loop Trail is 6.7 miles and loops around the peninsula. The hike is along the coastline the entire time except for one mile. It should take around 3 hours to complete
